Symptoms: Pop-ups warning of firewall alerts from a program called “Security Defender”.
Diagnosis: Security Defender is a rogue anti-spyware program that’s designed to scare the user into purchasing it to remove the threats it has identified. The threats are non-existent, and purchasing the program does nothing.
Resolution: This malware is normally not difficult to remove with the right tools, however, in this case, even after removal the computer would randomly hang on boot with a black screen w/white cursor. The operating system needed to reloaded.
